Urban forestry Community forester

Orlando is a part of Little Manila Rising's Urban Forestry team. He has his degree in Horticulture Plant Science, and has studied the Fundamentals of Horticulture, Plant ID, Soil Science, History of Garden Design, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Plant Propagation and Production, Landscape Maintenance, Irrigation and Drainage, Landscape Design and Construction, Greenhouse and Nursery Production, Arboriculture, and Edible Landscaping.  

As a Horticulturist, Orlando has excelled in all of his major-specific courses, he demonstrates a genuine passion for the horticultural industry and has an inquiry-based way of approaching the applied science of working outdoors plants and trees. Orlando has previously worked at San Joaquin Delta Colleges’ Horticulture Center as a Horticulture Technician, Nursery Technician, Greenhouse Technician, and a Farm Management Intern.

“Learning about plants and trees has always been a passion of mine, but what I really enjoy the most is the never-ending ideas and knowledge you gain from working with nature. It's up to us to teach the younger generation about the importance of nature, trees, and environmental justice.”
