Quincel Quiambao
Equity in covid health outcomes (echo) - co-director
Hi! I’m Quincel Quiambao, one of Little Manila Rising’s ECHO Co-Directors, overseeing our Covid-19 work.
What are your favorite things to do in your role?
My favorite aspects of my role are serving my beautiful community, building relationships, and engaging in joyous, memorable experiences that become cherished stories and reminders of the power of community and service.
How’d you get to LMR?
I was first introduced to Little Manila Rising through the Little Manila Dance Collective during my college days. Through this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for my culture and discovered the power of artistic expression beyond words. As a 1.5-generation immigrant from the Philippines who has confronted the stark reality of health inequities and disparities, I aspire to address health disparities in the BIPOC community and provide equitable services to these populations through a whole-person care approach. My work with the ECHO team during the COVID pandemic and beyond has allowed me to turn my dreams into reality. My commitment to community empowerment, patient advocacy, and the fundamental principle that healthcare is a human right form the cornerstone of my vision for collective liberation, healing, and equitable access to health and well-being for all.
What do you like to do when you're not at LMR?
I find joy in immersing myself in nature, whether it's hiking, frolicking through meadows, or admiring wildflowers. I also enjoy exercising, savoring live music, serving at my church, sharing my faith in God, and embarking on food adventures!
