Youth Advocates for Environmental Justice
Transformative Climate Communities
As a part of the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC), a city-wide effort to create a more inclusive and healthy community, we fight to provide equitable solutions to the disproportionate impacts of climate change. The goal of this cohort is to increase awareness and engagement around Environmental Justice and climate action in South Stockton.
TCC and Little Manila Rising
The Youth Advocates for Environmental Justice Program is supported by California Strategic Growth Council’s Transformative Climate Communities Program with funds from California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment – particularly in disadvantaged communities. Our role in this process is to engage the community and develop climate leaders through our Youth Advocates for Environmental Justice cohort. The goal of Little Manila Rising and our Youth Advocates is to increase awareness and engagement around Environmental Justice and climate action in South Stockton.
In the coming months, these Youth Advocates will continue to learn about the intersectional nature of environmental justice. They’ll collaborate to create outreach materials and host community workshops using what they’ve learned from our training and additional research. Follow our @lmadvocates page for updates on upcoming events!
