The DAWN Program began as a tribute to co-founder Dr. Dawn Mabalon, who passed in 2018.
Driven by her legacy, LMR pivoted toward health equity and environmental justice. Today, in Stockton—where asthma rates are among the highest in California—we work directly with residents to bring vital education and mitigation tools to fight rising asthma rates.
In Memory of Dr. Dawn Mabalon: A Program for Healthier Homes
The DAWN program (Decreasing Asthma Within Neighborhoods) started in July 2020 in response to the passing of our co-founder, Dr. Dawn Mabalon. DAWN was created to mitigate asthma triggers in South Stockton homes. As we understand the complexities behind asthma and poor air quality, we are expanding our community’s knowledge and empowering our neighbors to advocate for longer and healthier lives for our families.
